STEP 4 - Submitting your site to search engines.

Of course... if you want your site to be seen, you've got to tell people that it is on the web ! You do this by submitting your site to one or more of the hundreds of search engines that are available around the world.

Of course, the most popular ones (acording to Nielsen Ratings),are Google (49.2% of the market), Yahoo (23.8%), MSN (9.6%), AOL (6.3%), ASK(2.6%), and finally "others" with the remaining 8.5%.

What this means is that you can get exposed to 91.5% of the people who use search engines by submitting your site to only 5 search engines. Later I will tell you how to have your URL (website address) submitted to upwards of more than 300 sites at one time.

To submit to google go here.

To submit to Yahoo go here.

To submit to MSN go here.

To submit to AOL go here. (this page will explain that AOL uses google so go there and read the explanation.

To submit to ASK --- read this -->Ask has no free Add URL page and no longer offers a paid site submission service. However, the Ask Jeeves/Teoma agent automatically crawls the Web, so if you have links pointing at your site from other sites, it will get included naturally.

The best way that I have found to submit to upwards of 300 stes at once (including the BIG 5) is by using the WEB CEO software. This program has many free features which include search engine submission. They also have additional services that come with the paid version of the software. You can go to their comparrison page and see if the PRO version is right for you of if you just want to use the FREE version.

Please note that once your site is submitted... you probably will get some "confirmation required" emails at the address you specified. These instructions in these emails MUST be followed or your site will not go on that engin.

Now that you have gotton your domain name, found a hosting platform, (possibly taken some training - or used the hosting platforms FREE web site software) and have developed your website... you have found some affiliates and placed their links on your pages and published the site... and, now, have submitted it to the search engines... you can either stop now, cross your fingers, and wait for your checks... or you can be proactive and continue to work hard either putting out new websites (multiplying your exposure and your income) or trying other avenues of making money on the internet. Part 5 will talk about these good (and not-so-good) opportunities.
